Hi,
Was the old cross in Commercial street situated on a junction? I have an old photo which I believe to be Rothwell but am unsure exactly! There’s quite a steepish hill leading down to some shops either side. I believe the image to be c1908
Hi Paul
Where the cross is now, it’s at the top of a steepish hill – from there you can look across to the parish church. I’m sure there weren’t any shops when I was there in August. I think Commercial Street was blocked off by the building of a supermarket in the 1970s, but has now been opened up again. I’d love to see the photo! Feel free to email me: blog@iwikiwi.com
